Persons with disabilities petition HH, demand creation of ‘Ministry of Disability’

A CONSORTIUM of people with disabilities has petitioned President Hakainde Hichilema to create a Ministry of Disability, make Sign Language an eighth national language as well as appointments, among other issues. The consortium presented the petition which had 158 signatures from persons with disabilities to the President through the Vice-President’s office on Friday. According to the petition, the consortium stated that they felt sidelined. “As a consortium of Zambian people with disabilities, we wish to petition the Republican President and the new dawn government on the many issues that concern us and make us feel sidelined in fulfilling our full potential.
