Bumper harvest no guarantee of reduced mealie meal prices – CSO-SUN

CIVIL Society Scaling-Up Nutrition (CSO-SUN) Alliance country coordinator Mathews Mhuru says the record of maize production in the 2020/21 agricultural season is not a guarantee that mealie meal prices will be reduced. And Mhuru has urged the Ministry of Agriculture to start promoting production of other crops other than maize in the country. On Wednesday, Minister of Agriculture MIcheal Katambo announced that the country had recorded the highest ever maize production during the 2020-2021 agricultural season.
