Common Carrier Statutory Instrument is tantamount to expropriation – Milupi

ALLIANCE for Democracy and Development (ADD) leader Charles Milupi says the introduction of Statutory Instrument No. 24 is tantamount to expropriation. Commenting on Zesco’s recent statement that SI 24 would create a more liberalised and open electricity sector that enabled players in the sector to supply electricity to any customer on agreed and transparent terms, Milupi argued that the action taken was not favourable for investment. “I beg to differ, to encourage private investment in the energy sector and indeed any sector in the country, one of the fundamentals is that you need to protect property rights.
