Businessman applies to withdraw theft case involving Mutemwa, 2 others

THE complainant in a case in which Lusaka lawyer Mutemwa Mutemwa SC, his son and a police officer are charged with theft of US$800,000, has informed the court that he wants to withdraw the case. Businessman Lishandu Chinjenge wants to withdraw the case on the premise that Mutemwa SC is his lawyer and that the proceedings are prejudicing their client-lawyer relationship. In this matter, Mutemwa Mutemwa, 62, a legal practitioner; Kayombo Mano, 42, a police officer and Mutemwa Mutemwa, 40, a legal practitioner are charged with theft but the trio pleaded not guilty.
