IG asks political parties to submit campaign schedules

INSPECTOR General of police Kakoma Kanganja has told political parties to submit their campaign schedules to respective regulating officers to allow the service come up with a policing plan. And Kanganja says pulling down, defacing or destroying another political party’s campaign materials is a criminal offence and shall not be condoned. In a statement, Tuesday, Kanganja said submitting of campaign schedules would prevent clashing between political players and complaints on unfair treatment in the application of the Public Order Act. “Political parties are also advised to submit their campaign schedules to respective regulating officers without undue delay so as to allow the police come up with a consolidated plan of all expected political activities.
